Students spend Chemistry Day Experiment

More than 140 local students to their chemistry skills in action today.

Students from 16 high schools gathered at Penn State Behrend for Chemistry Day.

This is a hands-on science competition for high school juniors and seniors. They conduct experiments and participate in the demonstration extravaganza.

“We ended the day up to make them do different experiments, where there is a friendly competition,” says Tracy Halmi, senior lecturer in chemistry at Penn State Behrend. “They make three different experiments. Day ends with a chemistry demonstration show.”

Chemistry Day is an annual event in its sixth year.
